ABOUT
THE SPEAKER
Leonard Sweet’s message is one we can all understand and has
meaning for our every day lives:
“As a historian of American culture, Leonard Sweet is a preacher
and writer who communicates the Gospel powerfully to a postmodern age
by bridging the worlds of academia and popular culture.”
Leonard Sweet is a professor of evangelism at Drew University, NJ and
the author of more than 100 articles, 600 published sermons and 30 books,
most recently the Gospel According to Starbucks, 2007. He has been voted
one of the top 50 most influential Christians in America.
Some excerpts from Leonard Sweet’s Articles:
“The modern world rediscovered the individual and kind of suppressed
the community. Everything was ‘I’… So what do postmoderns
do? These kids want the communal again, but they can't give up the individual.”
(Second Century Youth Ministry)
“Someday I will hold up my Bible before a congregation, shake
it, and yell at the top of my lungs, "This is not a book about
propositions and programs and principles. This is a book about relationships.”
(The Quest for Community)
“The church, not Hollywood, ought to be the world's greatest
image factory. The greatest image in the world, the image that draws
people into real, life-giving relationship, is the image of God in Jesus
the Christ.” (The Quest for Community)
